v0.6.0 - WASM Physics Engine and Performance Overhaul
What's New in Tarunk Engine v0.6.0
The biggest update yet to our web-native fighting game engine: the core collision detection and hitbox resolution now run in Rust compiled to WebAssembly (WASM) — a 3x performance improvement over the previous TypeScript physics layer.
🚀 WASM Physics Engine
We ported the hottest path — collision detection, hitbox resolution, and guard pushback — to Rust/WASM. The result is faster, more consistent frame timing and smoother matches, even with characters that use hundreds of animation frames and complex state machines.
✨ Features
- Ported collision detection to Rust/WASM (3x faster)
- Optimized sprite batching for better rendering performance
- Added guard pushback calculations for accurate block behavior
🔧 Fixes
- Fixed guard pushback calculation
- Fixed projectile velocity inheritance
Try It Yourself
The fastest way to feel the difference is to play the engine in your browser — load a character and run a match. If you build your own fighters, Tarunk Studio gives you the same state machine tools we use to build the TARUNK Bot template character.
